Do you ever feel that unless you chase up everything, it gets forgotten about?? My podiatrist was going to write to my GP to organise ultrasound on my ankle and referral to orth. surgeon for the wayward toes. Well, I had my ultrasound (fibrosis and tendonosis??) but no word of the toes! So when I went to the GP this week for paperwork for my blue badge application, I asked where things were up to and guess what .... they hadn't bothered to read to the bottom of the letter!!

I saw the rheumy on 9th and she said she would arrange with the nurses to start the ball rolling re abatacept as the rituximab has stopped working after 4 rounds. I had to ring for a new prescription for my MTX injections today and asked where things were up to. They had had no word from the rheumy and she has now flown back home for the hols! So nothing is going to move swiftly Sad

All of this really concerns me as I need to get back to full working order asap! I have been put on attendance review at work whereby any absences in the next 2 terms can result in a written warning and 2 of those can lead to dismissal. I really need union advice but we have no-one at school willing to take the rep jobs on as the reps for all 3 unions all 'left' or were told to resign before competency proceedings following endless lesson obs, book scrutinies etc. And the area rep is off long term sick!

Sorry for the rant - but thanks for listening!! Ailsa

Oh what a catalogue of problems.

Can you not call the union office directly? Failing that you could talk to Citizens Advice Bureau maybe?

Hi Ailsa - nice name :)

How horrible, what a catalogue of problems, and how inefficient the NHS can be, it makes you want to despair.
That kind of behaviour is my worst nightmare, no 'joined up' thinking. Only the fittest survive the NHS!!Sad

As Paul said regarding your union, you can just go directly to head or regional office, you don't need a union rep.

Hope it doesn't spoil your Christmas.

Best wishes

Hi Ailsa,

Sorry things are going so completely pear-shaped for you - just what you don`t need.

I taught in a school where becoming a union rep was the "kiss of death" career-wise, and where the HM wouldn`t give the unions house room. When any of us needed union advice we got in touch with our regional rep - if the person needing advice was a woman, it was passed on to a male union rep in the area, as our Head didn`t like dealing with women. In practice this actually worked quite well, as the Head couldn`t make life difficult for area/regional reps.

Good luck,

Kathleen x

Sorry Ailsa, just re-read your post and found your area rep is off sick - you can phone your union HQ and they will assign someone to you. We once had a chap from the National Executive come out to us to help a member out.

Thanyou so much for the advice. I will try the regional office in the New Year. Thanks for listening. A problem shared is a problem halved. I'm going to forget about it all over Christmas! x Ailsa
